The City of Delavan Wisconsin is seeking a Chief of Police to replace our retiring Chief. The Chief is the senior law enforcement officer in the city and responsible for managing the Delavan Police Department. The salary range for this position is $124,000 to $131,000 depending on qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. A competitive municipal benefit package is also offered. The Police and Fire Commission of the city is the hiring body and is seeking applicants for the position. Internal and external applications will be accepted from September 15^th, 2026, through October 14^th, 2026. Applications will be reviewed by the Commission October 22^nd, 2026, and finalists will be notified prior to November. The selection process will include extensive interviews, evaluation of a candidate white paper reviewing the department’s performance and organization, appropriate background checks, and reference reviews. The selection process is scheduled to be completed in November 2026 with a candidate selection. Employment will begin January 4, 2027.

The City of Janesville is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Fire Marshal to lead the Fire Prevention Bureau and advance fire prevention, life-safety, fire investigation, code enforcement, and Community Risk Reduction efforts throughout the community.

As a key member of the Janesville Fire Department, the Fire Marshal works under the direction of the Fire Chief and collaborates with Fire Department personnel, City departments, developers, business owners, design professionals, law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and the public.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Lead and supervise Fire Prevention Bureau personnel and provide technical guidance to fire suppression personnel performing fire prevention duties.
Oversee fire and life-safety inspections, permitting, code administration, compliance, and enforcement activities.
Lead the Fire Investigator Team and administer the Department’s fire investigation program, including origin and cause investigations.
Collaborate with developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and City departments throughout the development, construction, and occupancy process.
Lead Community Risk Reduction, public education, and outreach programs, including the Survive Alive House program for third-grade students.
Oversee fire protection and life-safety system compliance, pre-fire planning, inspection reporting, and other Fire Prevention Bureau programs.
Provide technical expertise regarding fire codes, building construction, fire protection systems, and emerging community risks.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in Fire Science, Fire Protection, Emergency Management, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
Two years of progressively responsible experience in fire prevention, fire code administration, fire inspection, and fire origin and cause investigation.
Four years of supervisory or progressively responsible leadership experience involving personnel supervision, training, performance evaluation, work assignments, or program management.
Valid driver’s license or ability to meet City requirements for operating City vehicles.
Wisconsin Fire Inspector certification, or ability to obtain within the timeframe established by the Department.
Appropriate fire investigation training and qualifications, or ability to obtain required credentials within the established timeframe.

7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in public works operations, with extensive supervisory experience.

About the Department

The Town of Ledgeview Fire Department is made up of 33 dedicated Paid-On-Call (POC) firefighters who respond to roughly 230 calls for service per year (not including EMS response). The department has a First Responder program and contracts with the City of De Pere Fire Rescue and County Rescue for ambulance response and transport. The response area for the town covers roughly 17.22 square miles and includes residential, commercial, and rural areas. The Town of Ledgeview Fire Department participates in MABAS Division 112, which covers all of Brown County, Wisconsin, allowing fire departments to use pre-determined resource requests with efficient dispatching to respond to emergency and planned events within the county and beyond.

Role Responsibilities

The Fire Chief provides leadership and direction for the Town of Ledgeview’s Fire Department, overseeing all fire service operations, personnel, budgeting, training, and compliance with municipal and state codes. This role is responsible for maintaining effective emergency response readiness while ensuring ongoing community engagement and departmental accountability. The position also includes strategic planning, personnel oversight, inter-agency collaboration, and public safety programming.

Role Requirements

Our newest team member must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in local fire department services, with progressive supervisory and command experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science, Business Administration, or Public Administration is preferred and associates degree may be accepted. Chief Fire Officer Designation (CFOD) is desired as well. Certification as a Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and Fire Officer I, or the ability to obtain within a specified time is required. Certification in National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 300, 700, and 800 with the ability to obtain NIMS 400 certification within one year of hire is required.

Hours

This position is part-time and requires a minimum of 20 hours per week and offers flexibility depending on schedule. This position will also be granted an allocation of personal time off each year during which the Chief will not have scheduled hours or not be required to respond to emergencies.
